What is Enlighten PICO Genesis™?

How does PICO Genesis™ Work?
Everyone has melanin in their skin. However, everyone has a different amount. When melanin concentrates in a particular area, brown spots and an uneven skin tone can occur. The Pico Genesis™ laser helps to balance and clear your skin by selectively shattering unwanted pigmentation and remodeling the upper layer of the skin.
How Many Sessions Are Needed?
Typically two to three treatments are needed to achieve optimal results. However, everyone is different, and the number of treatments required will depend on the condition of your skin. Your Skin MD practitioner will review expectations and expected results during your free consultation. Ongoing treatment is recommended to ensure results remain.

What Should I Expect During Treatment?
During treatment, patients have said that they feel a slight warming sensation and slight pressure from the laser. Many patients do not feel any pain during treatment. However, your Skin MD practitioner will provide a topical anesthetic if necessary.
What Should I Expect After Treatment?
After each session, it is best to use an icepack on the face to minimize any adverse effects. It is also essential to keep the treated area out of the sun.
Are there any Side Effects?
Directly after each treatment, your face may exhibit some mild redness and swelling. However, this is temporary and will resolve in a few short hours. Over the coming days, sunspots and freckles will start to darken and scab over, and eventually fall off. Leading to a more even complexion.
Is there any Downtime?
Although some redness and swelling are possible, patients can go back to their daily activities, directly after each treatment.
