SkinCeuticals – AHA and BHA Peels – commonly known as the “Lunch Time Peel”

Alpha Hydroxy and Beta Hydroxy Peels will always have their place in solid skincare regimens and have historically played a significant role in superficial skin resurfacing. We are able to brighten complexions with little to no downtime and provide a feeling of clean and revived skin texture. Effective and safe, these peels are great for before a big event or just monthly maintenance. AHA and BHA peels can balance your skin and trigger collagen and elastin reformation.

SkinCeuticals – Gel Peel GL

This gel peel improves hydration by utilizing lactic acid; improves collagen synthesis and elastin fibers in the dermis; encourages cell renewal; and improves the appearance of skin discolorations.

Less irritating than a pure Glycolic peel.

Glycolic Acid 20% and Lactic Acid 10% work together to exfoliate the skin while reducing irritation and dryness. Glycolic acids molecular structure enables it to penetrate quicker and deeper than other AHAs to perform at all levels of the skin. Lactic acid is an effective yet gentle AHA that increases moisture levels by stimulating the production of glycosaminoglycans. By accelerating the cell renewal process, stimulating collagen synthesis, and improving elastin fibers in the dermis, this light chemical peel revitalizes photo-damaged skin and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

FAQS

What are Chemical Peels?

Advanced skincare treatments only performed by clinically trained estheticians, chemical peels work by exfoliating the skin’s surface to smooth your skin texture, reducing the appearance of imperfections, and restoring and balancing skin health. Chemical peels are most effective at stimulating cell turnover and improving the overall appearance of your skin.

What’s the difference between a Chemical Peel and a Laser treatment?

Chemical peels use a series of ingredients to remove the pigmentation of the skin, but also contain ingredients to prevent future pigmentation. Laser treatments address and remove the pigmentation that you have. Chemical peels remove pigmentation and help prevent the pigmentation from coming back. This is why Skin MD practitioners may recommend laser treatments in conjunction with a series of chemical peels.

Both Laser treatments and chemical peels can be an integral part of achieving and maintaining healthy skin. At Skin MD, we are dedicating to identifying what the best treatment protocols are going to get you to where you want be!

What type of Chemical Peel is right for me?

Chemical peels are categorized by how deeply they penetrate the skin: superficial, medium, or deep. The type and depth of chemical peel administered will depend on your skin type, concern, skin tone, and skincare habits.

The best way to identify what chemical peel is right for you is to schedule a complimentary consultation at Skin MD. There are so many choices out there and there is no ‘1 peel for all people’. At Skin MD, we will assess your skin, listen to your concerns and present a variety of options that are customized and personalized to your desires, goals and budget.

What does a Chemical Peel treatment feel like?

Even a mild, superficial chemical peel may produce a tingling sensation on your skin. Typically, this mild discomfort will subside once the chemical peel solution has been neutralized. Deeper peels can feel quite active and may require the application of a numbing cream beforehand.

A superficial peel can produce some redness, similar to a mild sunburn, which may last 3 to 5 days. The more intense medium and deep peels will result in noticeable redness, swelling, blistering (in the case of deep peels), and/or peeling for 7 to 14 days.

Immediately after a chemical peel, skin becomes more sensitive to sunlight. It is extremely important to follow the at home care instructions you will receive from your Skin MD medical esthetician. Wearing sunscreen is absolutely necessary and make sure to apply daily. Avoid going out into the sun or try to keep it to a minimum while you are healing. But honestly, are you surprised that we are recommending sunscreen?? Everyone should wear it. Every day. After a chemical peel, consider wearing sunscreen simply non-negotiable.
