How does NeoGen technology differ from other treatments?
Unlike light-based technologies, NeoGen converts nitrogen gas into plasma energy which penetrates the superficial and deeper levels of the dermis. This controlled damage to the dermis encourages your body’s natural healing response, triggering healthy new collagen and elastin growth for immediate skin tightening and firmer skin over time. NeoGen Treatment Overview
We apply a topical conductive gel that is used to increase transmission of the plasma energy to the surface of the skin. Use of the conductive gel hydrates skin, improves results, and enhances effectiveness of the treatment. (PRO-NOX a/k/a nitrous oxide gas, is also readily available at Skin MD for interested patients.) Most patients find the treatment comfortable and may experience a blast of warm air in certain areas. This treatment is truly non-invasive, so there will be no open wounds. NeoGen is a non – ablative treatment. During the procedure the outermost layer of skin remains intact and acts as a natural barrier, which encourages rapid healing and prevents infection. The SkinMD NeoGen treatment protocol allows for minimal social downtime compared to other NeoGen treatment methods. After treatment, the skin is usually completely healed within 3 to 4 days.
Day 1: Immediately after your treatment skin may feel warm with minor redness. Your Skin MD provider will keep the conductive gel applied to enhance hydration. It is important to maintain skin hydration for optimal results. Your Skin MD provider will recommend products for aftercare use to enhance hydration of the skin.
Day 2 and 3: As the skin is healing small, scattered patches of redness may be noted. Any sun damaged or hyperpigmented areas of the skin will begin to brighten and fade. During this period, it is common for the skin to feel tight and become dry. Daily use of recommended hydrating skincare products should prevent the skin from feeling overly dry. Oral hydration with water and electrolytes is also recommended to enhance efficacy of treatment.
Day 4: Any small areas of patchy redness are usually completely healed by day 4. Skin will look smoother, more evenly toned, brighter, and more youthful. Results will continue to improve over the following months as collagen and elastin production increases.
