Excess eyelid skin is an issue that many of us have to deal with as we age. A blepharoplasty is a standard cosmetic procedure that can improve excess eyelid skin and help you rejuvenate your appearance. This procedure can be done at our Skin MD Surgicenter. Oftentimes, in the right candidate, this procedure can be performed under local anesthesia. During your visit, we will discuss the procedure in-depth and prepare you for the recovery process.
What Is a Blepharoplasty?
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the eyelids. Get in touch with a Skin MD office near you to learn more about blepharoplasty and schedule your one-on-one consultation with our Plastic Surgeon.
What Are the Benefits of This Procedure?
Our blepharoplasty procedures give you a refreshed look and can take away that tired look that so many people are struggling with. This specialized surgery can remove loose or sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision. It will also remove excess fat pads that can appear as puffiness in the eyelids.

How Does Blepharoplasty Work?
A blepharoplasty procedure begins with a local anesthetic to numb the incision area. Then, incision lines are carefully drawn in specific locations so the scar is hidden in the natural eyelid crease. Once the incisions are made, fat deposits are removed, muscles are tightened, and excess skin is excised. At the end of the procedure, the incisions are closed using either removable sutures or sometimes skin adhesive.
What Can I Expect?
The results of your blepharoplasty will appear gradually as the swelling and bruising subside. Once fully healed, the results will reveal a smooth, better-defined eyelid and an alert, rejuvenated appearance. Eyelid surgery usually takes 1-2 hours. Moistened iced gauzes =are recommended for the first two days after the surgery to decrease swelling.
