Natural Hormones for Men and Women
What is BioTE?
BioTE is a bio-identical hormone replacement pellet therapy that helps to balance hormones in both women and men. BioTE® Identical hormones are non-synthetic, plant-based hormones that are identical biologically to human hormones. BioTE® balances your hormone levels and releases all-natural bio-identical estrogen and/or testosterone as needed. In other words, hormones that are safe and effective with no harmful side effects.
If you have any of the following symptoms, you may be a candidate for BioTE® hormone therapy:
• Irritability, mood swings
• Extreme fatigue
• Difficulty sleeping
• Low sex drive
• Memory loss, mental fog, confusion
• Joint aches and pain
• Night sweats, hot flashes
How are BioTe pellets inserted?
The tiny BioTe hormone therapy pellet, which is just a bit larger than a grain of rice, is inserted under the skin with a small incision for quick and easy insertion. Finally, a piece of tape covers and closes the incision, which will heal in a few short days. Above all, using stitches is not necessary.
What are pellets?
Pellets were initially developed in 1939 for women who underwent radical hysterectomies. Pellets are the longest studied form of hormone replacement therapy. Also, they are the most natural form of HRT. Inserting the pellets into the subcutaneous tissue of the buttocks is most common.
What are pellets made of?
They contain a steroid-based ring of the soy or yam plant to create estradiol and/or testosterone molecules. There is NO cross-allergy between pellets and soy allergic patients because it is an entirely different molecule, using Stearic acid as a binding agent. The likelihood of someone being allergic to stearic acid is extremely rare, and in fact, if you have ever taken aspirin, you have ingested stearic acid.
Bio-Identical Hormones vs. Synthetic Hormones?
Bio-identical hormones are introduced into the body and go directly to the receptors. The body will recognize them, unlike synthetic hormones that must be changed prior to your body being able to absorb them. This also makes the bio-identical hormones more effective and less likely to cause any complications.
What are the Benefits of Hormone Pellet Therapy?
Hormone imbalance is an inevitable reality that affects both women and men as they age. People with hormones that are out of balance often feel more fatigued and unhappy than their healthy peers.
To summarize, Bio-identical hormones offer these patients an effective and natural method to replace diminished hormones without adverse side effects. Bio-identical hormones distinguish themselves from traditional hormone therapy because they are scientifically engineered to act as your own unique hormones. They are chemically identical to the hormones already present in your body, so they are not as likely to be rejected. Unlike typical bio-identical hormone therapy treatments, pellet therapy ensures that you will never miss a hormone dose.
With hormone pellet therapy, patients can enjoy the benefits of:
- Increased libido
- Increased metabolism
- Better, more restful sleep
- Reduced vaginal dryness
- Less frequent headaches and migraines
What are the different forms of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy? Why pellets?
- Some pain with insertion
- Possibility of extrusion (the pellets coming out of the skin)
- Less frequent administration
- Inconsistent levels (hormonal roller coaster)
- Pain with injection
- May increase platelet stickiness
- A higher level of erythrocytosis and aromatization
- Daily administration
- Bad for the liver
- Increased clot risks
- Gallbladder effects
- 45% of people do not absorb
- Daily administration
- Possible transfer to others
Pellets mimic the way the body naturally produced hormones prior to a deficiency. In addition, as blood flows by the pellet, absorbing the hormones, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Above all, it is the most consistent form of HRT, meaning; it will not give you the hormonal roller coaster effect.
How often do patients need pellets?
Women need them every 3-6 months, and men need them every 4-6 months. The more patients move (exercise, walk, etc.), the better they will absorb the pellets; however, they will also absorb in the body faster.
Who is a candidate for BioTE?
Anyone with a hormonal imbalance. Your body’s natural hormones begin to decline after your mid-20s, and hormone imbalance symptoms frequently present themselves by your mid-30s. Men and women often start replacing hormones between the ages of 35 and 40. If you are experiencing symptoms of a hormone imbalance, it is best to seek testing and treatment as soon as possible. Lab work is the only way to find out. Age is just a number; you should not wait until you are 50 years old or older to have lab work and a consultation if symptoms are present.
