SkinMD Acne Treatments

While acne treatments in the past have included highly effective chemicals like benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, and salicylic acid, these topical treatments are not right for everyone’s skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. Topical antibiotics/topical acne medication and hormonal therapies have also been used, but again, those aren’t right for everyone. At SkinMD, we offer chemical peels and DiamondGlow® to treat acne (acne vulgaris) and acne-prone skin. No need for topical medications and skincare products that either don’t work or worsen acne.

Chemical Peels for Treating Acne

Chemical peels are an effective method for exfoliating the outer layer of the skin, reducing clogged pores, and promoting the shedding of dead skin cells. During treatments, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, causing controlled damage to the targeted areas. As the damaged skin peels off, it reveals smoother, fresher skin underneath. Chemical peels can help reduce moderate or severe acne, improve skin texture, and minimize the appearance of scars over a series of treatments.

DiamondGlow to Treat and Prevent Acne

Like a chemical peel, DiamondGlow® takes approximately 30 minutes and can address acne, skin discoloration, and acne scars. This treatment involves a medical-grade diamond tip wand that removes dry, damaged skin along with a high-powered suction device that cleanses your pores. After exfoliation and extraction, your skin is infused with a special serum to help improve healing and texture. It’s perfect for moderate acne.

How Does Acne/Acne-Prone Skin Occur?

Acne forms because of a buildup of bacteria in our pores. Over time, this acne-causing bacteria, oil, and debris can clog our pores and hair follicles and lead to breakouts. For some, these breakouts can be more severe than for others. The severity of your acne depends on your hormone levels and is therefore hard to prevent entirely. However, if you have present skin issues due to breakouts, we can provide treatment options to help clear up your moderate to severe acne.
