Does Laser Hair Removal Work for Facial Hair?

Yes! Facial hair removal at SkinMD can significantly slow down and permanently reduce the regrowth of facial hair for both men and women. For permanent cessation of facial hair regrowth, it may be necessary to have a few treatments. After each treatment, our patients should gradually see less and less hair grow back until the area remains smooth indefinitely. What is the Difference Between Laser Treatments and Waxing?

Laser treatments and waxing both remove unwanted hair; however, unlike waxing, laser treatments offer permanent reduction of unwanted hair.  If you choose the laser hair removal path, you will notice thinner, lighter hair in between treatments. 

Hair follicles are addressed directly with laser treatments, reducing the follicle’s hair production ability over time. Waxing may slow down the regrowth process, but the hair follicle is not destroyed, so hair will continue to grow back just as thick. While waxing per treatment may be less expensive, the difference is tenfold over time. With laser treatments, you do not have to have an uncomfortable wax every 4 to 6 weeks for the rest of your life. Smoother skin can be yours!

• How does Laser Hair Removal work?

  The procedure is simple and quite painless; light passes through the skin down to the hair follicle, where the energy is absorbed. This heats the follicle to a critical temperature, safely destroying the hair while maintaining the integrity of your skin. • How long does a laser hair removal treatment take?

  The short answer is – it depends. It depends on the size of the area being treated and how well your body reacts to the treatment. For example, laser hair removal on the upper lip area only takes a few seconds, while areas such as your full legs or your back can take up to 30 minutes. This is one of the treatments that depends on the area treated. Fortunately, our laser hair removal is virtually pain-free and requires absolutely no downtime. (except for your actual appointment time!)

• How many treatment sessions of Laser Hair Removal will I need?

  Another question that many people have is about the number of sessions required to fully reduce/eliminate hair. This also depends on the size of the area and how well your body reacts to the treatment, as well as on your hair and skin type. Because we offer state-of-the-art laser technology, we’re able to remove unwanted body hair that has pigment with fewer treatments compared to other laser hair removal services.

  Hair grows in cycles. Since many hairs will enter the growth cycle at different times, about 6-8 treatments are typically initially recommended to destroy most of the follicles in a given area.
